What is 7 times greater than 7?

7 times greater than 7 seems easy enough, but is it?

Let's assume the answer = 49 (since 7 x 7 = 49). Then shouldn't this statement be true?:

49 is greater than 7 x 7.

But that is not true. 49 is not greater than 7 x 7. It is the same!

To make it greater, we could make make a formula like (a+1)b where a=7 and b=7 to get this answer:

(7 + 1) x 7 = 56

But if that is the case, why not simply say "What is 8 times 7?" instead of saying "times greater than?"
