What is 7 times greater than 6?

42 is greater than 7 x 6.

But that is not true. 42 is not greater than 7 x 6. It is the same!

(7 + 1) x 6 = 48

But if that is the case, why not simply say "What is 8 times 6?" instead of saying "times greater than?"
