What is 7 times greater than 5?

7 times greater than 5 seems easy enough, but is it?

Let's assume the answer = 35 (since 7 x 5 = 35). Then shouldn't this statement be true?:

35 is greater than 7 x 5.

But that is not true. 35 is not greater than 7 x 5. It is the same!

To make it greater, we could make make a formula like (a+1)b where a=7 and b=5 to get this answer:

(7 + 1) x 5 = 40

But if that is the case, why not simply say "What is 8 times 5?" instead of saying "times greater than?"
