How many times can you subtract 5 from 40?

"How many times can you subtract 5 from 40?" is a tricky question. We think that there are three different answers to this question.

Answer 1: Once
It is once, because after you subtract 5 from 40 once, you are left with 35. Thus, you cannot subtract 5 again from 40.

Answer 2: 8 times
8 times, because 40 divided by 5 is 8. After you subtract 5, 8 times from 40, then there is nothing left to subtract from.

Answer 3: Infinite
There is nothing that says you can't keep subtracting 5 from 40 indefinitely. Just because you will end up with negative numbers doesn't mean you have to stop subtracting!
