How many times can you subtract 11 from 3?
"How many times can you subtract 11 from 3?" is a tricky question. We think that there are three different answers to this question.
Answer 1: Once
It is once, because after you subtract 11 from 3 once, you are left with -8. Thus, you cannot subtract 11 again from 3.
Answer 2: 0.27 times
0.27 times, because 3 divided by 11 is 0.27. After you subtract 11, 0.27 times from 3, then there is nothing left to subtract from.
Answer 3: Infinite
There is nothing that says you can't keep subtracting 11 from 3 indefinitely. Just because you will end up with negative numbers doesn't mean you have to stop subtracting!
