What is 95 times greater than 80?

95 times greater than 80 seems easy enough, but is it?

Let's assume the answer = 7600 (since 95 x 80 = 7600). Then shouldn't this statement be true?:

7600 is greater than 95 x 80.

But that is not true. 7600 is not greater than 95 x 80. It is the same!

To make it greater, we could make make a formula like (a+1)b where a=95 and b=80 to get this answer:

(95 + 1) x 80 = 7680

But if that is the case, why not simply say "What is 96 times 80?" instead of saying "times greater than?"

We do not think there is a correct answer, because the question can be misinterpreted.

It seems that when many people write 95 times greater than 80, they mean 95 times as much as 80 which equals 7600. We recommend that you ask them to clarify what they mean.
