What is 7 times greater than 9?

Let's assume the answer = 63 (since 7 x 9 = 63). Then shouldn't this statement be true?:

63 is greater than 7 x 9.

But that is not true. 63 is not greater than 7 x 9. It is the same!

To make it greater, we could make make a formula like (a+1)b where a=7 and b=9 to get this answer:

(7 + 1) x 9 = 72

But if that is the case, why not simply say "What is 8 times 9?" instead of saying "times greater than?"
