What is 65 times greater than 45?
65 times greater than 45 seems easy enough, but is it?
Let's assume the answer = 2925 (since 65 x 45 = 2925). Then shouldn't this statement be true?:
2925 is greater than 65 x 45.
But that is not true. 2925 is not greater than 65 x 45. It is the same!
To make it greater, we could make make a formula like (a+1)b where a=65 and b=45 to get this answer:
(65 + 1) x 45 = 2970
But if that is the case, why not simply say "What is 66 times 45?" instead of saying "times greater than?"
We do not think there is a correct answer, because the question can be misinterpreted.
It seems that when many people write 65 times greater than 45, they mean 65 times as much as 45 which equals 2925. We recommend that you ask them to clarify what they mean.
