What is 6 times greater than 3?

Let's assume the answer = 18 (since 6 x 3 = 18). Then shouldn't this statement be true?:

18 is greater than 6 x 3.

But that is not true. 18 is not greater than 6 x 3. It is the same!

To make it greater, we could make make a formula like (a+1)b where a=6 and b=3 to get this answer:

(6 + 1) x 3 = 21

But if that is the case, why not simply say "What is 7 times 3?" instead of saying "times greater than?"
