What is 41 times greater than 15?
41 times greater than 15 seems easy enough, but is it?
Let's assume the answer = 615 (since 41 x 15 = 615). Then shouldn't this statement be true?:
615 is greater than 41 x 15.
But that is not true. 615 is not greater than 41 x 15. It is the same!
To make it greater, we could make make a formula like (a+1)b where a=41 and b=15 to get this answer:
(41 + 1) x 15 = 630
But if that is the case, why not simply say "What is 42 times 15?" instead of saying "times greater than?"
We do not think there is a correct answer, because the question can be misinterpreted.
It seems that when many people write 41 times greater than 15, they mean 41 times as much as 15 which equals 615. We recommend that you ask them to clarify what they mean.
