What is 40 times greater than 41?

40 times greater than 41 seems easy enough, but is it?

Let's assume the answer = 1640 (since 40 x 41 = 1640). Then shouldn't this statement be true?:

1640 is greater than 40 x 41.

But that is not true. 1640 is not greater than 40 x 41. It is the same!

(40 + 1) x 41 = 1681

But if that is the case, why not simply say "What is 41 times 41?" instead of saying "times greater than?"
